Marissa Kaiser knows how to find beauty where it’s least expected. In the 90s, she photographed Portland’s skateboard community from the inside and captured the heart beat of the city’s suburbs beautifully. Wherever she goes, she seeks out her subjects’ idiosyncrasies, their excesses and their life force. She is genuinely interested in the lives of her models and creates the perfect conditions for her muses to open up completely and let their truth shine out, revealing, in their expressions, the depth of their personal stories.
